From the earliest days of the ORBCOMM network Stellar has applied its engineering skills, its extensive knowledge of the industry and its ingenuity to excel in this fast moving industry. As an example, in 1998 Stellar was the first modem manufacturer to introduce a dual mode satellite/GSM modem.
Stellar was acquired by both ORBCOMM and the General Electric Company in 2003. In 2004, Stellar contracted Delphi Electronics & Safety to manufacture its high-quality modems, each of which is built to exacting automobile industry standards. In 2005 Stellar became a wholly owned subsidiary of ORBCOMM. That same year, with GE Tip as its anchor customer, Stellar began shipping its new generation “Delphi” modems. To date, Stellar has shipped over 100,000 DS100 and DS300 modems. Stellar has continued its drive for state-of-the-art excellence by commencing its GSM Tracker design in late 2008.
